The conference venue is in Piazza Marina, one of the historical landmarks of the city, in the hearth of the old city and close to the port and many other historical places.

The easiest way to reach Palermo is by airplane, flying to the Airport of Palermo (PMO) connected to the city center by bus, train and taxi:

– Buses are operated by “Prestia e Comandè” at 6 euros/trip, 10 euros for the return trip — the closest bus stops is a few minutes away from the conference venue (via Roma/Vucciria stop). 

The trip from and to the airport takes about 45-50 minutes by bus, but could be afectes by traffic jams, so allow at least 30 minutes extra. 

– Metropolitan trains departing from the underground of the airport are operated by Trenitalia, the national train company, at about 7 euros/trip — the train station closest to the venue is “Stazione Centrale”, 15 minutes on foot from the venue. 

The trip from and to the airport takes about 40 minutes by train. 

– Taxis are also available at the airport, and would take you to downtown for about 50 euros. 

– Taxi sharing (~10 euros/person) is available at the airport if you arrive not too late (say before 10 PM). Shared taxi services start when at least 4 people are ready to travel. 

 It is recommended to book a room in hotels or B&B venues in the area along via Vittorio Emanuele (between Piazza Marina, which is next to the sea and the conference venue,  and Porta Nuova, which is a well preserved old gate of the city, located at the other end of the street, next to the Cathedral) or around the main streets of the center, which are via Roma and via Maqueda (both perpendicular to via Vittorio Emanuele).
